Well I guess That it's about time for another rant... This is something I've had on my chest for a long time though. Of course, usually there's absolutely nothing I can do about it but bitch, So let the bitching commence!!! I am so sick and tired of spending hard earned money on what amounts to be a load of crap.
Most recent case in point, my digital camera. We bought a new Polaroid PDC700 in April or May. We paid over $150 bucks for the damn thing. Less than 6 months later the camera is a worthless piece of shit. Of all places it broke at my 10 year reunion, so I can't get ANY of the pictures I took there. Of course the warrantee is only for 30 or 60 days, and I can't find the receipt. Typically Polaroid isn't handling the problem to my satisfaction.
Sad thing is - it doesn't stop there. I have five VCR's at my house. 3 are broken and the 2 that work won't record. Just ripped through two DVD players in 3 weeks. I've thrown out 2 modular stereos, 1 CD component, and 3 portable radios. I have 2 broken Playstations and 1 that works if I put it on it's side. 2 alarm clocks. The only things I have that work consistently are the TV sets.
Shall I get into Automobiles? let's just list the last 3 shall we (out of 9...) lets start with the Ford Ranger Pickup. We went to the dealership. Got financed. A month later we got a loan and paid off the truck. A week after that I took a trip to Florida. In Jacksonville/St. Augustine area the TRANSMISSION broke. Towed the truck to Melbourne and got it fixed. On the way home (and in the Jacksonville/St. Augustine area) The MUFFLER FELL OFF. Shortly after we got that fixed the damn transmission broke AGAIN! Typical, when I called the mechanic who did the work, he told me I rode with my foot on the clutch and refused to fix it. (I DO NOT ride with my foot on the clutch.)
I don't think I'm even going to get started on the other 2...6...whatever. My point is,... when you spend THAT much money on something shouldn't you be able to expect a product to LAST? I mean really as many times as we've been screwed it's a wonder we try to buy anything at all!!! I think there should be a warrantee minimum that requires companies to guarantee their products or services for a reasonable amount of time (without having to PAY for that guarantee.... I mean Hell, you've already BOUGHT the product...but that's another rant for another day....)
